HQ Children's House of Learning

IQ + EQ = HQ

Montessori

The objects surrounding the child should look solid and attractive...and the house of the child should be lovely and pleasant in its particulars; for beauty in the school invites activity and work.

Beauty in our materials...

Why Montessori?

Maria Montessori was born in Chiaravalle, Italy August 31 1870.  She was an outspoken advocate to challenge the system that precluded women from studying and working in fields designated for men.  She became the first female medical practitioner in Italy, an engineer and an educator.  But most of all through this… Maria Montessori was a scientist.

It was Maria's belief that through science we could improve the emotional wellbeing and intelligence of the child thus helping to bring about a better world.

Through careful attention to detail and planning we have followed Maria Montessori’s request to "follow the child" and have observed their constant desire for enquiry and exploration.  This has brought us to develop on Montessori's teachings and build a program specially designed for the child, based on science.

culture

Geography, botany, zoology, general science, history, music and art.

An exciting area that allows us to bring many science concepts into play - from how trees grow to the power of waterfalls.

At HQ we take this a step further into the area of science and bring it to life.

Math

Numbers, quantities, counting and general mathmatical concepts.

Introduced in areas of science they may not always seem like math...a wonderful way to explore and a perfect connection.

MARIA MONTESSORI

“Many new social institutions have sprung up and have become perfected with the object of assisting children and protecting them during the period of physical growth.

Science, evidently, has not finished it’s work.  On the contrary, it has scarcely taken the first step in advance, for it has hitherto stopped at the welfare of the body.  It must continue, however, to advance on the same positive lines along which it has improve the health and saved the physical life of the children, it is bound in the future to benefit and to reinforce their inner life, which is the real human life.

On the same positive lines science will proceed to direct the development of the intelligence, of character, and of those latent creative forces which lie hidden in the marvellous embryo of man’s spirit.”
